Appreciating Volunteers

Our Harbour’s Volunteer Appreciation Event, April 19, 2019

Our Harbour residents and staff collaborated to provide many of Our Harbour’s volunteers with a lovely gathering at St. Francis Church in Saint Lambert. Sweet punch, fruit salad and chocolate cake underpinned lively exchanges and heartfelt presentations. Here we see everyone happily intermingled near the end of the event.

Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

Of the many great volunteers attracted to Our Harbour, many have found the experience so rewarding that they have stayed with us for many years.

At a special luncheon on April 27, 2017, during National Volunteer Week, Our Harbour staff and residents fêted all our volunteers, but especially those that have loyally visited residents in their apartments for 10 or more years.

At the end of the luncheon, residents presented artfully designed button boxes to each volunteer. Each box contained a personalized scroll capturing a heartfelt message to the volunteer from the resident.

Outgoing Coordinator Perveen Khokhar, herself with us since 2004, presented framed certificates thanking each of the eleven 10-year+ veterans. Collectively they represent well over a century of dedicated service to Our Harbour.

The scenes below capture a few moments from this happy event.
